Siluron 2000: dynamic viscosity, high shear force resistance

The new Siluron 2000 is an ultra-pure silicone oil for intraocular application in challenging retinal surgery.
Unlike silicone oils used previously, which had a viscosity of 5000 mPas, our newly formulated silicone oil is able to better withstand an externally acting mechanical force — because Siluron 2000 was developed as a blend of highly purified base oils of varying viscosities and has a viscosity of 2000 mPas. The intelligent blend of base oils gives Siluron 2000 a variable viscosity: low when injected via 20, 23 or 25 gauge systems and high when remaining stationary in the eye. When removing the silicone oil, the low viscosity rheological properties again become important.
Siluron 2000 is provided in terminally sterilized glass syringes (10 ml). The product is approved for use in the EU (CE mark).
